Aquamarine Treasures Wealth and Happiness

"When you love a man, he becomes more than a body. His physical limbs expand, and his outline recedes, vanishes. He is rich and sweet and right. He is part of the world, the atmosphere, the blue sky and the blue water." Gwendolyn Brooks quotes

Aquamarine is a precious gemstone, categorized in mineral group, beryl, along with sapphires. It is a pretty fascinating stone. All credits go to its color, the mesmerizing, emotions-arousing, blue shade of nature's envelope, i.e., sky, provided to us.

Distinct in appearance, aquamarines are fascinating kind of rocks, which are softer and soothing to senses. Its shade resembles color of seas which are so calm and serene to look at. No wonder this is one of the most extensively shopped and worn at all occasions.

This fine stone derives its name from the Latin 'aqua' denoting 'sea' and 'mare' signifying 'water'. Because of their unique captivating color, aquamarines have been symbolizing water as an element. Whereas, Greeks believed, that aquamarine amulets adorned, would save them from the wrath of sea god, Poseidon.

May be that's why mermaids got a special place in Poseidon's heart, as mythologies say that, aquamarines were first found in mermaids' treasure chests and then somehow passed on to humans.

Other facts include that aquamarine eyeglasses helped Germans to prevent shortsightedness. These petty-sized yet charming gems bring out feelings of cheerfulness along with hopefulness, amity, and harmony. Anybody possessing this pretty gemstone is believed to possess a source of happiness and wealth.

Factually, its hardness lies between 7.5-8 Mohs, making it relatively hard, as compared to other softer ones like tourmaline or quartz. Therefore, it helps while removing inclusions, if any.

Sawing is the process termed to remove inclusions, where, a diamond cutter comes in handy. Its hardness contributes towards giving it various desired cuts and shapes also.

The color decides its value. There are shades like sky blue and teal which demand more cost and add value to the price. There are aquamarines which, with a particular tantalizing, bluish shade, cut in a desired cut, with more reflective facets, sparkle more resembling a diamond. It is preferred more over a bigger price tag.

Talking about inclusions, aquamarines are wiser than other gemstones. This stone has a good clarity as compared to other precious gemstones and few inclusions. This is an 'eye clean' stone to the extent of transparency.
